Static ip address connected to a switch

Hello,

Hi there i have 2 pcs connected to a switch with static ip address of 192.168.0.1 and 192.168.0.2 and i connect the switch to a dsl modem but they cant connect to the internet pls help.

it works when connected wireless using dhcp, but the 2 pc with xp cant share data between them.so i need to use static ip addresses and connection to the internet.

You need a router to share the internet. Or you can connect the modem to one PC and use the Windows internet sharing feature to get the internet on the other computer.

so i can replace the switch connecting the 2 pcs with a router and connect the router to the dsl modem and still assign the static ip of 192.168.0.1 and 192.168.0.2 on the pc respectively, and i suppose the default getaway would be the ip address of the dsl modem then ya
