This is probably just a problem with file access permissions.
After some research, it turned out the tool "cacls" that allows one to display or change ACLs (access control lists) can help to reset ACLs.
In Windows 7 it is called "icalcs". To reset files permissions:
1. Run "cmd" as Administrator - ( type it in the start cmd)
2. Go to the drive or folder in question, for example for the E drive:
CD /D E:
3. To reset all the files permissions, type: (the spaces are important)
icacls * /T /Q /C /RESET
4. And that's it!

Hey guys. Thanks to xpcman for his quick reply yesterday. Greatly appreciated :-)
I got most of my stuff receovered from the external HD and copied it to my C drive. But I noticed some weird shit I have never seen before.
There are 1,851 Files, 2,723 Folders totalling 800 megs that have files saying things like :
9947 file folder on C drive, when I open it says 9947814E-3D53-4DE3-A93C-8D15E25171EF-4a6a56497672a8eca2770f262888bbc4-17.lr-preview.noindex
I went thru all the recovered data and put all those crazy things in one folder. Can they be deleted?? What are they and what do they mean?
Thanks again techy friends!

Initially i could not see the drive used a path to Diskpart that another user had suggested. Now I can see the "f" drive but iit appear empty except for
bootsect.bak it says it is a bak file.
Thank you in advance if you have any ideas.
