Hello,

back again with sound issues ... i have a Toshiba satellite 305 running Vista , i have had sound issues before and have posted here with some other issues , dont know how to link to them though . anyway , had my sound back working for over a month till the other day , I was running on my battery and drained it . after plugging in and re-booting I lost my sound . I have tried restoring but to no avail (an issue that Sundar has been trying to help me with in one of my other threads) I have also uninstalled and then installed latest driver from realtec , still no sound . before i would get a code 10 as a reason why device would not start , this time nothing . Diagnostics and Properties say device is working properly but i have no sound and when I hoover over speaker in icon tray it says " no audio device installed ... please help , at whits end ....

Thanks in advance ...

Hi,

In my opinion, your sound card is fried.

However, to confirm, I suggest that you go to the device manager and delete the sound card and reboot your machine. Windows should detect it as new hardware. Reinstall the drivers. If you still do not get sound, check the connections.

Good luck

don't know why , but don't think so Ambucias . last time i think it was due to registry errors and i think something is going on at start up . i also get a "windows host service has stopped working and closed " warning when i re-boot also recently i have gotten a " this version of vista is not authentic " message in bottom right corner of screen but that goes away when i restart ... some reason i think these are all connected , then again i'm a window tinter ... i have done the delete re-boot , windows did install driver device successfully but i still have no sound . what do you mean check connections ???

Sometimes the latest driver is not the best. Try the latest and then the others.

thanks for the response Ambuias ,

newest does sound better , but what i'm saying is there is multiple versions of the same drivers installed when sound is working , by the way , sound is out again :(

Hi,

Download the "Chipset" and "Audio" drivers from the manufacture's website. Install

the "Chipset" drivers first and then "Audio" drivers.

If the problem still exists then update your BIOS.

Good Luck
