Hi,
So a friend of mine gave me her laptop to take a look at - it's a Dell Insipiron 1545, and it's already had its HDD replaced because she keep dropping it *rolls eyes*. Now, when you press the power button it does nothing - no POST, no fan spin up, completely blank screen. She wasn't clear about whether this happened as a direct result of something she did, but I'd guess she dropped it. I tried removing the battery, the RAM and the HDD (all of them both in isolation and combined) but the machine doesn't make a peep. After doing a bit of reading about the model, I'm leaning towards a mainboard failure, but I read something on here about the power circuit board coming loose? So yeah; I'm pretty much ready to just call it a day, but I wanted to check no one has any ideas. Thanks!

Just confirm the power pack is working?

if its all good then yes, a system board failure sounds like the cause.
