Excel: Chnge Gen # format to date format.

Hello, I have searched this site but can't see how to get an Excel colume I have to convert to a date format. The column has dates in this general number format:

Oct 21, 2011

and I would like to change the format to a dd-mmm-yy date format so I can sort by date.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Hi Brian,

Select your cell(s) and hit Ctrl+1 or right click properties.
Goto number tab and select the botom option.
Now you can enter any format you like.
