You will need a dedicated monitor to use the broken laptop. An alternative is to remove the hard drive from the broken laptop, buy a 2 1/2 inch USB external hard drive adapter and then connect the hard drive to your working laptop. Depending on the age of your broken laptop you will need either a IDE or SATA adapter (enclosure).
