Hello, Everyone

I recently purchased a new 2TB HDD for my computer, the bios recognizes it as a 0mb drive but I'm assuming that's because its unformatted. However when I turn on my computer and go to disk management it is not there.

Now this is where I'm stuck, I'm not that great when it comes to computer hardware so I don't know what I may have done wrong, does it matter whether or not it's a slave/master? Am I overlooking something simple?

I also put in my windows 7 installation CD to see if it even showed up as an unformatted drive there but it did not.

Also I don't know if it helps but here's some more info

Thanks for taking the time to read this and I do appreciate any help anyone can give me.

I don't see a 2T hard drive in the BIOS. Your BIOS 2 picture is for "channel 2 Master" which is a DVD drive. I suggest you check your wiring again.

You didn't activate ACHI in the BIOS before you installed Windows and your disk access has defaulted to IDE. You can Google to find the Registry fix need to load ACHI support in Windows after it's installed. You restart Windows after you modify the Registry and then restart again into the BIOS, change the access to ACHI and again reboot. The last reboot will start using ACHI access (a 5 to 10% speed gain).

Good Luck

I'll try that when I get home from work, like I said I really don't know much about what I'm seeing in the bios or much about hardware lol, I assumed that 3rd 0mb drive was the HDD but it looks like I was wrong. It looks like the problem may just be the connection then if it isn't actually in the bios so ill defiantly check when I get home. Thanks for the help you probably solved it
