Hi gafoormbnr,

I think I can help you with this if I know the Device instance Id of the onboard sound card in your machine. Reply to my post with the Device instance Id. Follow the steps below to get the Device instance Id for the internal sound card:

1. Right click My Computer icon on the desktop.
2. Select Manage.
3. Select Device Manager from the right pane of the window that opens.
4. Expand Sound, video and game controllers from right pane.
5. This will show the sound card in the machine.
6. Right click the sound card (with yellow mark) and select Properties.
7. Click details tab.
8. Select Device instance Id from the drop down list.
9. It will show the Device instance Id in a list box in the middle of the window.

Do reply with results.

Hi gafoormbnr,

Sorry for the delayed reply. From the Device instance Id (HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_10EC&DEV_0888&SUBSYS_8086D608&REV_1000\4&3ACC46D&0&0201) that you gave I found that you have a REALTEK sound card in your machine. You can download the driver from the following link (do select the appropriate operating system):

http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/downloadsView.aspx?Langid=1&PNid=14&PFid=24&Level=4&Conn=3&DownTypeID=3&GetDown=false

Please revert for clarification.

Hi gafoormbnr,

You can try this fix, it has worked in similar situations with error message (Realtek
HD Audio Driver Failure - error code: 0xE0000227).

Do you have Windows XP Service Pack 3 in your machine? If not, download Service Pack 3 from the below link. After you install Service Pack 3 you will see and additional option (Microsoft UAA Bus Driver for High Definition Audio) in Device Manager under System devices (see the link below for the image). Once this appears in the device manager, try installing the Codecs downloaded from Realtek website.

If you already have Service Pack 3 in your machine then disable Microsoft UAA Bus Driver for High Definition Audio in device manager and then rescan for hardware changes in the device manager. Install the Realtek Codecs now it should install correctly now without any errors.

Link for downloading Service Pack 3 - http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=24

Hope this helps.
