How can i connect ATA hard disk and DVD write

Hello,

I can't connect ata hard disk and dvd writer through a single ata cable.
when i do this only one device were detected . And i have a 160 GB SATA HDD too , but it has no problem . i need to connect both hard disks and DVD drive . how can i make it possible ?
l'm using Vista ,intel 945 mother board .

hi,
you may connect one of the hard disk as slave to the other one.
you will have to set the jumper found the hard disk to the slave mode.
see this if your hard disk is a seagate:

thus the dvd writer will be free.
connect the hard disk containing windows as the master.

I have same problem but i detect both the device but problem with dvd is that it read some time cd or DVD but most of time it get hage so please give me solution for jumper setting for this please

It was NOT asking how to connect 2 HDDs it was asking about one HDD & a DVD drive.

Im trying to do the same thing and was looking for some useful info before attemting it.

Keep looking I suposse.
