Hi lamamia,

There is a free application by the name "AIV BAD CD/DVD Reader". This application helps you copy data from damaged CD/DVDs to your hard drive. If the damage is very severe I cannot assure you this will help, still try once. You can download AIV BAD CD/DVD Reader from the below mentioned link:

thank you for your speedy reply however it still won't read it i think it's because the disk is the imation ones and when i stuck tape to it it ripped half of the imation sticky label which was attached to disk and i think it wrote to the sticky label not to the disk do you think that's correct or do you think i can still retrieve my data look forward to response thanks again

Hi lamamia,

On discs a thin reflective aluminum layer is sputtered. The laser beam from the CD/DVD equipment reflects off the aluminum layer and hits an opto-electronic device that detects changes in light. From your description it seems this layer has been removed along with the sticker. I think it will be difficult to retrieve data off this disc anymore.

Please reply if you have any further queries.

Hi lamamia,

I searched for a way to put the thin film back but was not able to find one. I am afraid there is not any method accessible to me for doing this.

Please reply if you have any further queries.
