From your description the problem seems to be with the Video or the computer is failing to do Power On Self Test (POST). There might be some indicator such as the Lock LEDs (Num Lock, Caps Lock and Scroll Lock) or Beep Codes for your computer which can help us identify the exact problem. It is hard to determine the issue without knowing the Exact System Model Number of your Compaq Presario Laptop. In your reply please reply with the Exact System Model Number of your Compaq Presario Laptop. Also, in your reply please add if any pattern displayed by the Lock LEDs.

OMG im having the same problem! Mine is a compaq presario CQ56. I get no beeps though :(

Hi MrTomW7,
Please try these basic steps and see if this helps:
1. Remove AC Adapter and battery from the computer.
2. Remove any External peripherals from the machine.
3. Press and hold the power button for 10-15 seconds.
4. Re-connect the AC Adapter only and try to power on the computer.
5. Check if any difference is observed.
