It sounds like the printer is not connected to the PC.
(I assume this printer worked before on this PC)
1. check printer cable
2. check printer power switch and power cord
if either is disconnected then re-connect them.
Pull the data cable, turn off the PC. Then turn on the PC and connect the printer data cable once the PC has booted into Windows.
If it still doesn't work - try the same procedure with the power cord.
Before you discard the printer as broken - try to connect it to a different computer.
