Compatiblity problem from laptop to T.V

Hello,
I have HP envy laptop which I wanted to connect to watch movies on to my Samsung T.V Model no: LE40M86BDX/XEU. I couldn't connect it through HDMI cable and gives a message "check signal cable"? Is there something with digital signal which not going through my laptop to the T.V
Please help me....

Hello,

Try this 1

If you failed to get the display in TV, then use the proper combination keys (like

Fn+F5/ the function key that has the monitor symbol on it) to toggle between

your laptop screen and the TV.
