Restoring factory setting

Hello, I'm having issues restoring the factory settings on a dell inspiron. I have done f8 and gone through to repair computer and dell factory image restore it is saying after the last step that the parameter is incorrect. any suggestions?

Hi mwa22,

This error message indicates that possibly the hard drive partition which has the image of the Operating System is corrupt. If that is the case, you must install the Operating System with the disc. But, before doing reinstallation I would request you to run Hardware Diagnostics on the computer to ensure no Hardware is failing or causing any problem. Also, it would be helpful if you could mention the reason for doing the Factory Restore.
