Hi giddy01,
Before we perform any troubleshooting, I would like to hear from you about the following:
1. What was the method used to upgrade to Windows 7 Ultimate from Basic Version?
2. Is there any error message on the Black Screen such as, "Windows is not genuine", etc.?
3. Are you able to boot to the "Safe Mode"?
Please do write back to us.
