Hello,
Well as a lot of HP laptops, I am also having a dark screen issue... By this I do not mean that it is completely dark... It is very faint and when connected to an external monitor it seems to display well on the monitor... Yesterday, randomly, the screen just fixed itself with a startup error of unknown code... And then it was working fine for a bit... I decided to restore my laptop to factory settings and now its back to the same case... I have tried the remove-the-battery-press-power-button method... Also reinstalled ati drivers... But none seem to work... So now I am back to having a very dim screen... By dim I mean it is possible to see things on the screen, but it juSt isn't bright enough to see... Any help would be appreciated... The laptop is a pavilion dv6 3050 TX... Also when I went to the HP guy he told me I needed to replace the screen, but now since the screen did work earlier, I am wondering if he was trying to cheat me... So please tell me how to fix the screen =)

Hello,

Try this 1

If the screen appears to be dim/barely viewable then check your brightness

settings. If everything seems to be fine and you are able to get a display in the

external monitor then the problem might be with your inverter or the backlight

bulb. But it's the inverter that's get failed more often than the backlight bulbs.

Hello,

First you need to check the cables and the connectors. If everything is fine then the problem might be with the screen itself as the LED screen doesn't contain inverter. We can suggest you few things. First find the total cost of screen replacement in HP service center. Then find the cost of Genuine screen replacement in third party service center. Then you can make your decision.
But you need to make sure that its a well established genuine service center.
Good Luck
