My laptop really perform very slow what kind of changes or method can i used to increase its performance..?? please reply answer I need it please!!

Hello,
1. Delete all temporary files
2. Defragment the hard disk
3. Check for viruses and remove them if any
4. Increase your ram capacity
5. Prevent useless applications from launching at start-up
