The exFAT file system allows storage units to support larger file sizes previously limited by FAT32. This file system is designed primarily for portable devices, enabling greater interoperability between peripherals and other operating systems. You can easily format any storage unit using Windows 7's main disk management options. Have a question? Get an answer from Online Tech Support now!

Instructions

1 Connect the storage unit to your computer. Click the Start button, then click "Computer."
2 Right-click the drive you wish to format from the left or the right pane; select "Format" from the context menu options.

3 Click the File System drop-down box and select "exFAT." Optionally, apply a name to the drive from the Drive Label field while leaving all other default options intact.
4 Click "Start" to initialize the procedure, which generally takes several seconds.
5 Click "Close" once the system formats the drive in question.

Good Luck
