I use a Netgear modem DG834G which has worked perfectly with both a PC and a Mac.
Yesterday I suddenly lost connection with my PC and couldn't restore the link to the modem directly. However, I was able to establish a link with my wifi repeater.
This morning the same problem occurred with my Mac. I am able to gain access to the internet via the repeater but neither computer can link with the modem directly.
Can anyone advise how I can restore the direct link with the Netgear Modem?
thanks

You can try two things:
1. power off the modem and wait 60 seconds to reconnect
2. Use the reset button on the back of the modem - then you will need to reset wifi password and account name.
I have found that modems/routers have a limited lifetime of about 4/5 years. You might need to replace it.
Good Luck

Thank you.
Before I do so is there a possibility I might lose connection altogether?

That's always a possibility.

Thanks again. I'll proceed cautiously.
