1. the sound of the music/movie etc must be recorded in 5.1 and your sound system to be set correctly from Windows/Linux/Mac OS X.
2. if you have a sound system that knows "auxiliary" (see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aux-send it's enough to plug-in in your rear output and you'll hear in all speakers and sub-woofer (with this doesn't matter if it's recorded the sound in 5.1 system or it's radio stream that is normal)
