hello,
i'm trying to return my 'VOLUME' icon back to my taskbar.
I've did all the things that were suggested but the problem is,
the name 'VOLUME' is in the list of icons to be 'seen' on my taskbar, but its gray and
i cannot check it so it will return back.
what do I do to return it back to the list, and WHY IS IT GRAY?

waiting patiently!

Hello,

Try this 1.

1) Click on Start --> In search bar, type MMSYS.CPL and press "Enter".

"Sounds and Audio Devices Properties" windows will be opened.

In the "Volume" tab --> Select the check box "Place volume icon in the taskbar".

2) If its grayed out then make sure that "Windows Audio" service is running.

Click on Start --> In search bar, type services.msc and click on OK.

Services windows will be opened. Now scroll down for "Windows Audio".

Make sure its status is "Started". If its not started then to change its status.

Double-click on "Windows Audio" --> Set "Startup type:" to "Automatic" and click

on "Start" --> Click on OK.

3) If the problem still exists then click on Start --> In search bar, type

devmgmt.msc and press Enter. "Device Manager" will be opened. If you notice

any yellow mark then reinstall your audio drivers. You can download the drivers

from your manufacture's website.

Good Luck.

thank you for your speedily response.
i did try them.. it's the second one:
Click on Start --> In search bar, type services.msc and click on OK.

Services windows will be opened. Now scroll down for "Windows Audio".

Make sure its status is "Started". If its not started then to change its status.

Double-click on "Windows Audio" --> Set "Startup type:" to "Automatic" and click

on "Start" --> Click on OK.

this one I did and when I clicked on "WINDOWS AUDIO" it tells me this:
-WINDOWS COULD NOT START THE 'WINDOWS AUDIO' SERVICE ON LOCAL
COMPUTER.

ERROR 1079: THE ACCOUNT SPECIFIED FOR THIS SERVICE IS DIFFERENT FROM THE ACCOUNT SPECIFIED FOR OTHER SERVICES RUNNING IN THE SAME PROCESS.

have the slightest what this mean.
