Hello,
My girlfriend's laptop recently began to malfunction. Sound will not play through laptop speakers, comes through as a faint, buzzing sound via headphones, yet plays prefectly through hdmi to the television.
It is a Toshiba Satellite L745. Driver is Conexant SmartAudio HD 8.51.1.0. Should be up to date.
Any ideas?

HDMI sound is often processed by a separate sound chip mounted on the Video card. Since the computers internal speakers are not connected to the HDMI port. That could be the reason that the TV sounds works.
