in excel if you want to manipulate dates then you MUST ENTERE DATE as excel date either as m/d/yy orf d/m/yy according to regional configuration
either you can enter a formula in A2
=a1+1 (may be you have to format A2 as you like
on the other hand you can take the cursor to bottom right of A1 when cursor turns inot fill handle (+ sigal) and drage the mouse down.
