Help my laptop screen went black

Well my hp pavilion entertainment PC screen gone black. I was using it and it worked perfectly and then I left it on to go eat and when I came back the screen was black. I moved the mouse but it stayed the same. And the caps lock and num lock keeps blinking. So I tried turning it off and taking the battery out but it still didn't work help me.

Did you try the hard reboot sequence?
1. unplug the laptop and remove the battery
2. push and hold down the power button for 60 seconds
3. replace the battery and power cord
4. restart the laptop.

I tried it but it still didn't work I really don't want it to go to fix for $200
