Hello,
I've seen this same question about five times on this site and I still don't know what to do. I just installed WinXP Pro SP3 and my sound is not working at all. I have already tried numerous things and it won't work at all. Mostly everything that has to do with the audio is greyed out, so I can't do anything with it. and It won't tell me the name of my sound card maker or brand or anything so I don't know what driver I need. I have a compaq laptop with Intel Celeron(R) M CPU 530 @ 1.73GHz, if that helps any.

You should be able to go to www.hp.com and look for support and be able to download the audio drivers for your
Compaq laptop.
