My dell laptop starts normally but Icons disappear when I click on any of the desktop icons. Just desktop background remains. Is the problem related to hard disk? If anyone knows, Kindly give me a solution to solve the problem.

More likely it's a Windows software problem. What happens when you try Ctrl + Alt + Delete ?
