I recently built a computer and I did manage to have it work for an hour or so. Then after I restarted while installing drivers it no longer worked. It would tell me "No Signal". At first the computer didn't work either, then I fiddled a bit and it worked. Now there are no lights on the Motherboard and the lights that indicate the power on in the case don't come on either. My specs are:
CPU: AMD FX-8120 3.1GHz 8-Core Processor

CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler (Actually i ended using the fan that came with the processor)

Motherboard: Asus M5A97 R2.0 ATX AM3+ Motherboard

Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory

Video Card: MSI GeForce GTX 660 2GB Video Card

Power Supply: Corsair Builder 430W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power

I also have a 550W Cooler Master Power Supply that my friend gave me but that didn't work.

I think the problem might be how the power supply hooks up to the motherboard but I'm not sure.

Any help would be great.
Thanks!

Sorry I saw this reply and I meant to answer but I forgot.
Well one thing that I believe might be an issue is that the cable that plugs into the top of the motherboard, 8-pins black and yellow cable, does not fit it correctly. There are 2 types of holes. Square and a sort of half square half hexagon. Like this: ___

And the pins aren't in the order they should be. My friend, who helped me build it, said that the round ones were meant to fit into the squares butI'm not sure. The order of the slots on the mobo is
1st Row: Square, round, round, square
2nd Row:Round, square, square, round

I hope this helps, if I misunderstood what you wanted specify a little so I can provide the correct info.

Thanks!

And the power supply is the Cooler Master GX 550W. Heres a link to it where you can find it's manual as well.

Ok. You can't pound a square peg into a round hole. If the plug didn't fit then you shouldn't have used it. If you don't have the proper 8 pin plug then you should try a four pin cable and plug it into the left hand side of the plug. (the only way it will fit).

After looking at the power supply specks I think the 8 pin plug you tried to use is probably the 6+2 PCI plug and not the motherboard plug.

No you can't fit a square into a round but you can put a round into a square. I do have 2 four pins that click in, even though they don't entirely match the shapes. I'll try using the four pins, and if that doesn't work another friend of mine with test the flow of power throughout the computer
