I recently purchased a Dell Optiplex 760 tower with Windows Xp Professional on it from a 2nd hand store.. I know not very smart. The issue I have is once I boot up it says to press Ctrl,Alt, Del once I do that it requires a password to go any further. I have tried putting into safe mode and by passing but no matter which option I choose it still requires me to put password in... how do I get around this? I have also tried hitting Ctrl, alt, del twice when it prompts for it.

Can someone please walk me through this or tell me what my options are at this point? I would really hate to be out the $100.00 I spent on it!

Thank you in advance to anyone willing to help, I really appreciate it alot

Kioskea does not offer help with "lost" passwords.

You will probably need to reinstall Windows to get past the password lock-out.
Or you could try another Operating System like Ubuntu Linux (which is free).

Or you could Google "lost Windows password" for help from other sources.

Thank You for responding, I was unaware of that. How would I install Linux if I cannot get past the ctrl, alt del and password?

you can download the manual for the 760. Page 158 gives the procedure for password reset. I requires you to set jumpers on the MB.

ftp://ftp.dell.com/Manuals/all-products/esuprt_desktop/esuprt_optiplex_desktop/optiplex-760_Service%20Manual_en-us.pdf

Good Luck
