HELP!!! My HP G6 running but nothing else happens.

My computer froze last night and it wouldn't turn off when I tried to turn it off manually, so I took the battery out and removed the plug. then, once I replaced the battery and plugged it back in and tried to restart it, it wouldn't turn on. this usually works for me. it turns on, you can here the fan or whatever running and the screen lights turn on. there is the hp loading screen, but then it just goes black. the screen lights stay on and the computer continues running but nothing else happens. PLEASE HELP!!! I'm seriously freaking out!
