So I went to radio shack and bought connectors to stream from my mac book to my Tv ( I was sent by apple as the model I have is outdated and they dont carry the parts anymore) I connected what they sold me...and they do connect. problem is I have to move the open window all the way to the left of my computer screen to be able to see any of it on the tv. The window as it appears on the tv is also very very wide. Anybody have any ideas how to remedy this issue?

You probably need to change the screen resolution on the laptop. Or the scaling factor on the TV. They need to match between the two devices.
