File sharing b/ two laptops via public wifi

Hello friends,
Please help me, I'm seeking your advice about my topic "File sharing between two laptops using public wifi".

None of these laptops do not transmit Wifi. Both are using public wifi. If you're suggesting any app, suggest freeware only.

Why not just use an "ad hoc" wifi connection?
