How to get passed windows admin password

I recently aquired a dell optiplex 170L desktop and i cant figure out how to get passed the password for admin.... it wants a user name, a username, password & then i has the thing called log on to: and then a drop down menu with the previous owner's accounts.... how to i get passed it.... i already did the reboot/f8 into safe mode method but i still couldnt bypass it... PLEASE HELP!!!

Perhaps you have tangled with a Dell "Corporate level" password system. There is no secret backdoor around this level of security. It requires the "Tag number" and access to a special Dell program to generate override password. Dell requires proof of ownership like the original invoice number. Before they will give you the password. It looks like the PC is only good for salvage.
