What are the software necessary for these files ?

Hello, i have mandriva 2010 , i want to know what software do i need in order to operate files ( pdf , word , rar , all kinds of videos , mp3 ) , and are there special sofware to load like idm , and how can the installation of all of these things
what is the best ( ubunto 9.10 karmic koala , debian etch , fedora 2011 )
and what is the best of linux

Ubuntu should have most of the software you require.

go for Ununtu as Mandriva's WIFI is not automatic unless you know how to configure it
