Sound won't work unless I restart laptop?

Hi,

Not sure if I picked the right category:

I have a new Windows 8 Laptop, it's a Lenovo G500 and I keep on having issues with the sound. It stops working a few times a day and will only come back if I restart the laptop.
I use it all day every day so it's extremely annoying having to save work and start it up again.
I think it may have something to do with not having the very latest updates installed because sometimes it comes back if I go to PC settings and install updates but other times it says there are no updates to install so I have to restart.

Any ideas on how to stop this would be greatly appreciated!
