Is it wireless?
If so, you have to connect via Wireless network.
If not, do this:
Go to Network Centre and see if you are connected.
If so, click Show Status, and click Properties
Then click Internet Protocol v4 (TCP/IPv4)
then tick the boxes (all of them)
See if that works
