                    A number of HP laptops had a problem with the soldered connections to the video chip.  After some use the heat from the video chip would degrade the  connections.  Solutions ranged from from wrapping a blanket  around the laptop (causing a severe overheating condition) to baking the laptop in an oven to having a computer tech re-solder the connections.
Having a computer tech re-solder the connections is probably the best solution.
