I don't understand your problem. The PC should "read it as a disk".

It is asking me if I want to format the disk and it says it will delete everything on there do I want to continue. Is that what I should do? I don't want to lose everything on my passport

Then it is not a "NEW" drive! How do you have data on it? Did you try to transfer data from another computer? Then you probably picked up a virus. Re-formatting the drive might be best if you have a virus.
