After plugging in the device, go to device manager (In run type "devmgmt.msc") In Device manager go to "Universal serial bus controllers" It should list the storage devices that you have connected to your PC. Right click and then click "Uninstall. Remove the USB drive and restart your system.

Check your pen drive on another computer to confirm that inbuilt USB ports of your HCL computer isn't damaged or corrupt. If the device shows into device manager, consider formatting it to start everything from scratch.
Keep in mind that formatting will erase everything and you'll not be able to recover it in future.
