Power light on but no display

Hello,

I have dell vastro 1500 laptop. OS windows XP sp 2. When i press the power button, the power light on but HDD indicator light off so that there is no display in the screen. After 15-20 minute power on then display is automatically on. Then the laptop working well, restart well. But after shut down the laptop when i start the it after long time then the problem is create.

When is the last time that you defragmented your hard disk?
