Hey!

So I have a Sony viao, model number SVE15123CDW. About 4-5 months
ago it pretty much crashed and every time I try turning it on a message
saying S.M.A.R.T drive not working. I can't get passed this. Nothing works.
Do I need a new hard drive? Is there a way around this message to restore it?
If I do need new hard ware can I install it myself? I have no disks. Please, any info
would be greatly appreciated. Please and thanks!!!

Yes you need a new hard drive. You should have read the instructions and created a set of recovery disks when the computer was new.

You probably needed to have a local PC repair shop install the hard disk and use their OEM copy or Wndows and the COA lable on the bottom you your laptop.

Good Luck

I did but I left them in Australia lol. Not much help for me there.
Is it possibly/easy to change it myself?

Physically changing the hard drive is not too hard. It's the software that's the problem. You might see if you can order a set of recovery DVDs from SONY.
