Please Help Black Screen Of Death.

So I have a dell laptop it is the Vostro 3500 and it was working fine in till now it goes to the logo and then a black screen appears with a underscore blinking. Then it restarts itself and does that again who knows how many times. I don't know what to do please help. I need this computer for school. Thank you:)

Hello.

What is your operating system?

Will it restart it self if you start in safe mode with networking?

I honestly don't know my operating system... And I cant even get to the screen that lets me choose safe mode...

Of course you know your OS, is it Windows XP, Vista, Win 7 or 8?

If you press the start button and keep taping F8, what do you get?

Looks like you have a motherboard issue to which only a qualified technician can attend to.
