Hi jordanb1,

Do all the fans run? is there any life at all?

Occationally, the backlight on the screen decides it wants to die. You can check if this is the case by looking closely at the screen. this is best done in daylight as it shows up better, but can be done with normal house lighting or a torch. Try to see any evidence of a normal desktop. angle the light (or the laptop) to try and catch the light just right. If you can see any evidence of the desktop (although it will be VERY dim) then the screen will need to be replaced.

From what I can see there is no picture in the laptop, when i first turn the laptop on it stays silent but the power button comes on, then about 2 minutes later the fans kick in, it sounds exactly how it would if the screen was workingaswell

Hello Brian and Jordan,

Permit me my 2 cents worth.

To go into Brian's back light path, have you tried connecting to an external monitor?

Brian will take over from here.

Best regards

Yes - all we are trying to do here is confirm that the laptop is functioning. If it is I fear a new screen is needed ... or inverter - but lets see how this goes first.

Im off to bed now so wont be back till tomorrow (its 12:30AM here) - if anyone else wants to join in feel free.
