Need to replace missing files in windows 8.1

Acer Aspire Laptop E1 571 6482. 3 years old. Cannot get on internet/comcast came said must be laptop. It turns on goes to main page but limited internet. Message came up that i had missing files. So I was going to reload the option to save my files but fix missing files. It asked me tp put in disks which of course didn't come with it. Then i remebered i has made recovery disks when i got it. On inserting these it said cannot read disk. I have 4 recovery disks and a driver & recovery application disk.Not sure what to try next. I thought Acer had a partition on the HD for recovery but I don,t want to lose all my files , photos, addresses etc. HELP!
