I have an old acer aspire 5050 when I turn it on the start button lights up but the screen stays blank what should I do?

No I've done the power drain and nothing happened. Can you send me imstructions on how to put the memory/ram arick back in the laptop? That's where I think I'm going wrong. Thank you!
