Hdmi troubles need help urgent!!

Hello,

I'm using a hp pavilion g6, and i regularly use my hdmi cable. it usually works fine however today i could get no sound. i have been on about twenty different sites right now each telling me things that do not work; this is because my problem is a bit different. my hdmi is not disabled from anything, every section i go into with anything settings to do with the cable say it is enabled! please help- i am driving myself insane!!
