Go ahead and try the options suggested from the link in @Computertech's post. If that doesn't help, you could try accessing the USB flash drive via Linux Live CD/USB to see if it's recognized properly and if you're able to get to your files, or try some of the data recovery programs from this thread: www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/id-1644496/lost-data-recovery.html
I'm afraid that if nothing works for you and if you are unable to format the USB flash drive, unfortunately, it might have failed.
