Hello Deb,
Method 1:
Press ctrl+alt+del and select new task type explorer.exe and press ok..
Method 2:
If you able to right click do view-->show desktop icons
Method 3:
If neither works enter into safe mode by pressing F8 after restarting your pc..
If there are icons then go to start-->all programs-->accessories-->system tools-->system restore
