I was trying to clear for some disk space and came across some useless looking files and deleted them. Emptied my recycle bin. When I went back to my downloads I realised that the icons for pdf and zip files are not displaying correctly, they are now the 'blank white paper' icon. And the 'windows store' icon has 'disappeared' from my taskbar, it's still there and I can click on it, but it's not displaying. Worst thing is that I have no idea what files I deleted. I tried using Recuva, but none of the files seem right. Any idea how to fix this?

You can try a restore to a date before you did the delete.

A little knowledge is a dangerous thing. :)

Do you mean system restore?? I tried but it didn't work because I didn't know that I have to save the ummm 'point in time' for backups and so I can't restore to any date now.....
