Hello,
The download site for Avira Free Antivirus has a file titled "Avira Launcher Windows" but there is no explanation of what this file does or if it is part of the installation of Avira Free Antivirus. What is this and do I need to download and run this executable to complete the installation? Avira Free Antivirus appears to be running with no problems on my PC. Thanks.

Avira Online Essentials is not a product, which you install, but an web application, which helps you to manage and monitor all you devices. You can access Avira Online Essentials at any time from everywhere. You just need to login.

In case you can't find your smartphone for example, you can lock it immediately via Online Essentials. In case of a theft, all your private data are secure.
Or you monitor all the devices from your family and ensure that all family members are protected from viruses and other malware.

Components of Avira Online Essentials

The Avira Launcher (Windows Client)
Allows users to install one or more Avira products on their PC, shows multiple products (activated or not activated by the user) and provides multiple connections / links to Avira Dashboard.

You probably don't need any of the above.
