I would like to know if my current NORTON- ANTI-VIRUS PROTECTION SOFTWARE, protects my email incoming and outgoing.

If you are using Outlook, Outlook Express or similar software it should block virused attachments.
It will not protect e-mail from clients such as Gmail or Yahoo.
P.S. Personally, I have come to distrust all Symantec products.
